Half-routes expressed in leagues also appear outside the Tres Galliae: Aquinco – Cornaco
Welcome to the project ‘Decrypting the Peutinger Map’. The objective of this project is to investigate the whole route network shown on the Tabula Peutingeriana, to reconstruct the original road information and the original source material as much as possible, and to publish the findings.
Here you can find out what’s new: on the article-page you can find information on the peer-reviewed articles that have been published within this project. On the cases-page you will find analysis of specific routes of the Tabula Peutingeriana and the Itinerarium Antonini, to which the articles refer.
Although the research, and therefore the project, has been going for years, for now the site contains information about the first article, published per January 2025, and the accompanying case of ItAnt 272. Soon I will add cases that accompany the second article.
